The Social Supermarket aims to grow the social enterprise market by raising the public awareness of the uniqueness, quality and impact that these brands offer the day to day consumer.

There are seventy thousand social enterprises in the UK (for context there are fifty thousand pubs) and the retail sector represents sixteen percent of social enterprises. Over the past few years the UK has seen a large growth in the number of consumers who care about the social and environmental credentials of the products they buy but the majority still do not believe that companies are striving to be socially responsible. Marketing and brand awareness remains one of the key challenges for many social enterprises. The Social Supermarket will make consumers more aware of the growth of social enterprise products and provide a platform to empower great brands lift up their profile to a wider audience.
