Elvis & Kresse

Since 2005 Elvis & Kresse have been rescuing raw materials, transforming them into luxury lifestyle accessories and donating 50% of profits back to charities.

In 2005 Elvis & Kresse had a chance encounter with the London Fire Brigade. When they learnt that London's damaged decommissioned hoses were headed to landfill they mounted a rescue. They set up Elvis & Kresse to save it. For over a decade none of London’s fire-hose has gone to landfill and over 170 tons of material has been reclaimed.

In 2017 the Burberry Foundation partnered with Elvis & Kresse to tackle the even greater global problem of leather waste. This Five-year partnership will see at least 120 tonnes of leather off-cuts from Burberry recrafted into new luxury items, designed and sold by Elvis & Kresse.

They came up with the idea for Ginerosity because they believe passionately in the power of business and brands to do good.

With our beautiful and big-hearted London Dry gin, profits are poured into projects that will help deserving young adults to build themselves a better future. That isn’t just a worthwhile cause, it’s a vital one. And they’re exceptionally proud that they’re the first spirits company to do it.

Where exactly does the money go?

Ginerosity is committed to supporting projects that help disadvantaged young people through providing work, training and education opportunities.  

Their first partnership was with the charity Challenges Worldwide to help young adults from disadvantaged backgrounds take part in International Citizenship Service (ICS) programmes. This was an innovative overseas programme that gave young people skills and training, and supported their personal development. 

Thanks to Ginerosity a group of young adults were able to take part in this programme and achieve a valuable and industry-recognised qualification from the esteemed Chartered Management Institute. 

Since then, they have continued to help young adults grow and develop through a partnership with the social enterprise pub group, Beer for Good.  

Now, in 2018, they are working with a brilliant charity that offers a lifeline to young homeless people by giving them training, education, support and mentorship. They continue to make a difference to people's lives.

Not only do they get a fair, reasonable wage but they also have the opportunity to learn valuable skills that permit them to have a sustainable, effective way to get out of poverty. Then they sell it to people like you. The Elephant has just stepped outside. Now we have to keep him there.

Stand 4 Socks

"What if socks could change the world?"

Stand4 started by this simple statement when founder Josh Turner said this amongst friends casually. A bold concept, but when you stop and think about it, most of us wear socks....and if each pair has a positive impact, then why can't socks change the world?

This is because socks are rarely donated, as we wear through them and wouldn't donate old smelly socks with holes - unlike old coats or shoes. Leading to lots of foot issues for the people most in need. They went out and created the most suitable sock for homeless people, donating a pair with each we sell.

Currently our socks support 11/17 of the sustainable development goals. Allowing you to stand for a different cause each day of the week. This is represented by a small cause logo on the ankle of the sock, from education to gender quality and much more. Your sock purchase could be powering a hospital, clearing landmines to planting trees!

Rubies in the Rubble

Rubies in the Rubble founder, Jenny, started reading about the problem of food waste after seeing the amount of discarded produce at fruit and veg markets across London. Beautiful mangoes, cranberries & tomatoes all headed for landfill, often because they simply didn't look right.

Although much of the discarded produce is perfectly edible, much is thrown away due to aesthetic imperfections, over-forecasted demand or inefficiency in storing & distributing.

The scale of the problem of food waste got Jenny thinking about what could be done with all this surplus product. Surely there was a way of creating delicious, first-class product using excess produce?

Armed with some family recipes and car-bootful of rescued fruit and veg from New Covent Garden market, the experimentation in the kitchen began! It wasn't long before...

Turtle Cup

Turtle Cup is on a mission to reduce plastic waste. In the UK alone, 2.5 billion coffee cups are thrown away each year. Many people believe that coffee cups are recycled. The reality is that just 1 in 400 coffee cups are recycled, and we want this to end. We LOVE our coffee, but we don’t want it to cost the earth!

They want to go a step further and walk-the-walk rather than just talk-the-talk. Thats why with every sale, they donate 50p to charities who’s mission it is to end single use plastic and clean up our oceans.

As well as this, Turtle Cup are a carbon neutral company. All of the carbon generated in the manufacturing process, and in the delivery of our cups to customers,  is offset through schemes and projects which reduce carbon output.

Our orders are handled by a fulfilment company called James & James, who are one of the only Soil Association-Certified fulfilment companies in the UK.

GlobalWAKEcup

GlobalWAKEcup was born after old friends Buffie and Nick got together to reminisce about their time together in the music industry.

Nick says "Having put the world to rights, we got chatting about David Attenborough's now iconic Blue Planet II series and realised we both wanted to do something about the single-use plastic issue it raised... Along with Blue Planet and the film A Plastic Ocean, this fact gets us out of bed every single day" 

Each year 100 billion single-use coffee cups end up as landfill, that's enough to fill The Royal Albert Hall a 1000 times over

But with a problem this big, where do you start? The thinking behind what they do is part education and part real world solutions, backed up with 10% of profits going directly to their charity partners - The Marine Conservation Society. They believe small changes to our daily routine when multiplied across the globe can make a huge difference to our shared Oceans...... "It's only 1 plastic straw said 7.7 Billion people" is a line that has helped inform our thinking and also "If you can't reuse it , refuse it"..... In addition to the alternatives to single-use cups, bottles, straws and bags we offer, GlobalWAKEcup also get stuck in with beach cleans and promote initiatives like Plastic Free July. They are also planning some very special events with our new friends at The Royal Albert Hall and have talks, podcasts and workshops in the pipeline with some influential artists, musicians and actors all contributing their thoughts on sustainability and other environmental topics.

The UK Government estimates our total annual coffee cup waste equates to 30,000 tonnes and suggest that by 2025 more than 3.75 billion disposable cups could be used per year in the UK alone - staggering! What's worse is that of those 3.75B disposable coffee cups currently used, just 0.25 % are recycled. A London-based tea company offering a variety of whole leaf tea blends as loose tea and in biodegradable tea pyramids along with a Chai Syrup for chai lattes, iced teas and chai cocktails! 

They are strong believers in creating positive change through business and provide employment to refugees to help them better integrate in the UK. Nemi Tea employ refugees to run tea stalls across London food markets, festivals, events and conferences which allows refugees to boost their English skills, regain confidence and work on skills required to enter the UK job market. They also employ them within our business to perform commercial roles including sales & marketing, events, packaging and distribution.

Nemi are solely impact driven and re-invest more than 50% of their profits back into their enterprise to help us achieve our social-impact goals.

Award-winning flavours and positive social change, that’s us at Harry Specters. Mona, Shaz and their son Ash, who has autism, are behind this social enterprise. While visiting a chocolate shop on a holiday in Scotland in 2011, Mona discovered a perfect way of combining her passion for creating positive change for people with autism with her love for chocolate. Ash came up with the name and a year later, Harry Specters was born - dedicated to crafting the most delicious chocolates that create employment for young people with autism.

They are involved in every aspect of the business – from making and packaging the products to administration, design and photography. The chocolates have won numerous awards for their taste and hundreds of young people with autism have a brighter future. Every lovingly handcrafted bar and chocolate helps improve the lives of people with autism.

For every £1 of profit made at Harry Specters, Mona and Shaz decided that 60p would be set aside for furthering the social aims of the business, providing social activities for their invaluable employees as well as opportunities for their personal development.

Artbox was set up in 2011 to provide much needed opportunities for people with learning disabilities to access the arts and be included in their local community.

We run art workshops in Islington, go on trips to museums and galleries in Central London and provide exhibition and sales opportunities so that each of the artists can exhibit, sell and earn an income from their work.

We're a registered charity and social enterprise. This means that all of our profits go back to supporting people with learning disabilities.

Page & Bloom are reinventing floristry with paper flowers, transformed from preloved books, maps and paper. Each of their flowers is individually hand made, transforming paper into stunning floral designs.

​Page & Bloom also has a social purpose. They are are a social enterprise created to provide fair employment and opportunities for women who have experienced domestic abuse. They work in partnership with domestic abuse charities, who refer women to us once they have moved on from a women's refuge. They provide free training to our makers, who are then paid to make the beautiful decorations we sell.

​Their handmade, sustainable decorations start out as paper that has come to the end of its original life. Rather than ending up in landfill or in a dusty attic, they give paper a new life as something beautiful. Their skilled designers and makers transform these raw materials into flowers. The magic happens with little more than scissors, glue, wire and a little bit of love and imagination.
