The co-ops success and growth originated from Nano Challa becoming part of the Technoserve Coffee Initiative in Jimma, which was funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Technoserve provides technical assistance and training to producer groups, coordinating agronomists and business advisors to help improve coffee quality, manage debt, manage the fair distribution of funds to each member and reinvestment. The impact of the initiative has been huge as it has allowed Nano Challa to build washing stations allowing it to transition from only producing naturally processed coffees to also producing washed coffees. This, in turn, has allowed the members to access new markets and reach new levels of quality.
They recommend you endeavor to receive your coffee as beans, as it will aid your coffee in staying fresher for longer and will keep those flavours and aromas that make that coffee distinct and vibrant locked in. If this isn’t possible we can grind your beans to suit your filter brew method. Your coffee will be accompanied by a detailed leaflet outlining tasting notes, historical backdrops, environmental landscapes and inspiring and innovative stories of the coffees journey from the farm to your brew at home.
Cafedirect are proud to be the UK’s first and largest Fairtrade hot drinks brand, improving lives all over the world. And with at least a third of their sales certified as Soil Association Organic, they do their bit for the planet as well.
Unlike any other coffee company, Cafedirect invest 50% of their profits into PRODUCERS DIRECT, a UK charity that works directly with farmers to improve sustainability and livelihoods, right across the coffee growing world. The charity is run by farmers, for farmers, taking leadership and developing innovative solutions to the challenges they face.
This reciprocal, direct relationship enables them to provide their consumers with great tasting, very high quality and continually improving drinks.
