'Sonder' - The recognition that each passerby has a life as complex and vivid as your own.

Geometric blues.

All these shorts are made in small runs to ensure the most efficient use of material and enabling our team to remain focused on quality, durability, comfort and style.

The environment is at the forefront of your Mangata shorts. Their fabric is made from 100% recycled post consumer plastic bottles keeping them out of landfill and the ocean. This plastic is broken down to create a yarn which produces a super soft and quick drying fabric for maximum comfort. They use a soft polyester elasticated lining as well as an elasticated waistband. The gold cord ends give a smart unique finish to the shorts.

Size Guide

Small - 30" waist. Medium - 32" waist. Large - 34" waist. X Large - 36" waist.

Caring for your shorts

We recommend rinsing your Mangata's rather than machine washing to save energy. If machine washing always use a cool wash cycle and do not tumble dry.

About Mangata London

The ocean is our place of peace, our lifeline.

That feeling of complete calm when you are staring out at the open sea, nothing else in sight, with the wind in your face and the sun on your skin. This is the feeling that inspired Mangata's founder, having grown up on the North Norfolk coast to create a brand that celebrates this but also gives back. The ocean relieves us of our troubles but now the ocean is in trouble and we need to act.

Every minute of every day, the equivalent of one truckload of plastic enters the sea. Single-use plastics are filling up our oceans, choking marine life and entering our food chain.

At Mangata London they use a fabric that is made from 100% post consumer recycled plastic bottles, re-purposing them before they end up in landfill and inevitably the ocean. Using recycled plastic products reduces CO2 emissions by 70% and recycled polyester fabric uses 90% less water than regular polyester. 1kg of recycled Polyester can keep 60 water bottles out of landfill and our oceans.

Small things can make a big difference, they've reduced their packaging to a minimum, using purely recycled paper, swing tags made from cotton off cuts and even compostable mail bags!

They work closely with their manufacturer in Romania to ensure the most efficient use of material. Their shorts are made in small production runs which ensures the team are able to remain focused on quality, durability, comfort and style.

They are continuously trying to make improvements to their sustainability. This year they started the Mangata Medley, a new wood on their founders family farm where we aim to plant many different species of trees to offset our carbon footprint as well as finding ways to reduce it in the first place.

They recommend you rinse your Mangatas rather than putting them in the washing machine and promote the use of washing bags such as Guppy Bags which can be used in the washing machine to catch micro fibres.

Their aim is to keep as much plastic as possible out of our oceans and to increase awareness of the plight of the ocean, getting you, our community, on board for the ride.

Get on board with Mangata London, the beach-loving brand who turn plastic bottles into durable and quick-drying swimwear.

Every minute of every day, the equivalent of one truckload of plastic enters the sea. That’s plastic that will never disappear but can be repurposed into something useful. Like swimwear.

Mangata follows a six-step bottles-to-beachwear process that starts with the collection of plastic bottles by environmental services and ends as snazzy designs made from recycled polyester. This fabric uses 90% less water than regular polyester and 1kg of it can keep 60 water bottles out of landfill and our oceans.

They keep their packaging planet-friendly too. Expect your swim shorts to turn up packed purely in recycled paper, with swing tags made from cotton offcuts and delivered in compostable mail bags.

Mangata asks that you keep up the fight against plastic when you wash your trunks too. They recommend swapping the washing machine for a rinse or using washing bags, which catch microfibres in the machine and stop them polluting the ocean.
