Mudcloth, or ‘bogolanfini,’ is a centuries-old textile tradition originating from Mali, West Africa. Traditionally, strips of handwoven cotton were dyed using fermented mud and plant extracts, creating bold geometric patterns that held symbolic meanings, from storytelling to status. Today, its striking designs remain a celebrated part of African artistry and global decor.

For over 30 years, Tribal Textiles has made batik textiles. Today, they are one of the biggest employers in the Luangwa Valley, an area where jobs are scarce.
