'face The Day' Moisturising Balm
The ultimate barrier-boosting balm, a rich moisturiser to use at night, or whenever your skin needs a moisture boost
Dry skin? Finding conventional skincare insufficient? Our Face The Day Moisturising Balm is uniquely designed to deeply hydrate and protect the skin day and night. A luxurious balm of jojoba oil, shea butter and wildcrafted beeswax, infused with frankincense, calendula, lavender and rose, it nourishes, hydrates and plumps the skin and protects it from pollution and other stressors. Ideal as an overnight moisturiser or whenever your skin needs a boost. Unlike conventional creams and lotions, we don't add water, processing chemicals or synthetic additives that can actually harm the skin's protective barrier.
How it helps your skin:
- Intensely hydrates without feeling heavy or greasy
- Protects skin from pollution and other stressors
- Locks in moisture for long-lasting softness and glow
- Packed with natural moisturisers, anti-oxidants and vitamins
- Preserves and protects skin's natural barrier
Key Ingredients and their Benefits
- Wildcrafted Beeswax – with its propolis and honey intact is a natural occlusive which allows the skin to breathe and humectant (works in a similar way to the synthetic hyaluronic acid), drawing water into the skin throughout the day, keeping it plump and refreshed throughout the night or day.
- Natural Olive Squalene – a wonderful emollient which sinks into the skin quickly to plump it up and make it feel soft and smooth. It is believed to slow down water loss from the skin, boosting skin’s moisture and making the complexion look more radiant and nourished
- Sustainably sourced Argan Oil – the King of Oils and a lush emollient! Many studies indicate argon oil to be effective at reducing signs of ageing
- Organic Shea Butter – a beautiful emollient and occlusive to protect the skin with anti-inflammatory and healing properties
How To Use:
Massage onto damp skin after cleansing or whenever you'd like a powerful moisture boost - a little goes a long way!
If you prefer a lighter ‘cream’, simply spritz one or two sprays of our Pure Organic Rosewater onto the face then, whilst skin is still damp, apply a small amount of 'Face The Day' Moisturising Balm.

The Science behind our skincare:
Skincare consists of three different types of moisturisers – each with an important role to play:
- Humectants -Draw water into the skin to keep it hydrated
- Emollients - Smooth the skin by filling in the gaps between the cells
- Occlusives - Seal water in by forming a protective layer on top of the skin
A well-balanced skincare routine should, ideally, contain humectants, emollients and occlusives.
Our nourishing and moisturising Balm contains all of these! (For more info, see our article Why use Natural Skincare?)
Most skincare products are actually made of up to 80% water which isn’t really adding any value to you *, indeed the chemicals added to mix the water with the oil and stop the bacteria growing in the water will disrupt your natural skin flora, leaving your skin exposed to UV, environmental pollutants and other damage.
We don’t add any water to our facial products just pure natural humectants, emollients and occlusives to give your skin all the nourishment and plumpness it needs!
NB, If you’re using a chemical sunscreen (one containing oxybenzone, avobenzone, octisalate, octocrylene, homosalate, and octinoxate) these work by penetrating the skin (some reaching the bloodstream – which is where the potential issues arise, unfortunately). If you are using a balm-type moisturiser at the same time as a chemical sunscreen, it’s recommended you apply the balm on top of the chemical sunscreen so the chemicals can absorb into your body first. Most sunscreens suggest you wait 30 mins or more between applying moisturiser and sunscreen whichever order you use them. If you use the balm at night, then applying the sunscreen in the morning is fine.
If you are using a mineral sunscreen (one containing non-nano-zinc, for example) then these work by physically reflecting the sun’s rays and an intact skin barrier will help the sunscreen’s efficacy. So you can use these in either order. A true moisturiser, that works to help repair and protect your skin’s barrier, should support the effect of a mineral sunscreen.
* as a caveat, some creams do contain a proportion of aqueous infusions which can add some benefit. However, on balance, we believe the detrimental chemicals added to creams generally outweighs any potential benefits, and the aqueous infusions can often be delivered as a pure spritz
