Our Fresh Faced Cleansing Oil acts like a magnet to dirt and grime, dissolving away impurities without stripping the skin’s natural protection, leaving you feeling fresh, clean and radiant, Unlike foaming or milky cleansers, (which contain emulsifiers), which often leave your skin feeling tight and stripped - a sign that your skin’s natural moisture barrier has been compromised which can lead to dryness, irritation and even breakouts.

A lighter alternative to our Cleansing Balms, many people like to use our Cleansing Oils as a morning cleanse.

Key Ingredients and their benefits

Castor Oil – a vital ingredient in any cleansing product as it acts like a ‘dirt magnet’, drawing impurities from the skin whilst protecting the skin’s natural moisture balance

Jojoba Oil – another key ingredient, jojoba oil ‘tricks’ the skin into stopping the over-production of sebum, maintaining the skin’s natural balance. It also assists in the breakdown of sebum in plugged-up pores

Safflower Oil – a nourishing and rebalancing oil that helps to reduce the size of pores, and is also particularly helpful for thin or damaged skin.

Rosehip Oil – Rich in Essential Fatty Acids as well as Vitamin C, A and E, this potent antioxidant and pro-retinol oil both protects and hydrates the skin, promoting a smooth and even skin tone

Lemon Oil – known for its ability to brighten and lighten skin, promoting a more even skin tone

Lemongrass Oil - rich in antioxidants and with its mild antibacterial, astringent, and anti-inflammatory properties. It can help cleanse, tone, and purify the skin, making it suitable for acne-prone and oily skin types.

Rosemary Oil – Rich in antioxidants and helpful to stimulate skin cell regeneration and aid in blemish removal

Vitamin E – a powerful antioxidant to protect the skin against environmental stressors

How to use

Apply one or two pumps of cleansing oil into your hands and gently massage over dry skin. Remove with a wet hand-hot cloth for gentle exfoliation and a perfectly cleansed, radiant complexion.

The Science Bit

Conventional Foaming or milky cleansers contain a class of chemicals called emulsifiers (or surfactants) Fairy Liquid is a surfactant. The role of an emulsifier (or surfactant) is to ‘stick’ oil and water together. So on your skin, surfactants bind very effectively to excess oil and wash it away in the water. However, they also bind to the skin’s natural oils and protective lipid barrier and skin’s natural microbiome, also stripping this away, leaving skin exposed and open to drying out and invasion by external pollutants, irritants, bacteria and viruses.

Oil-based cleansers effectively remove make-up, sunscreen and excess sebum and can dissolve excess oil in pores, but do not invade the skin’s natural protective moisture barrier. Using a damp cloth to wipe away the oil also dissolves any remaining water-soluble impurities, leaving skin feeling softer, healthier and more hydrated.

Unfortunately, the ‘double-cleanse’ which is often promoted, normally contains a step which involves stripping away the skin’s natural protective lipid barrier with a foaming, milky or emulsifier-based cleanser. We don’t think this results in healthy skin, so would not endorse this 2-step cleansing regime.
