Bukonzo Joint Cooperative in Kyarmba, based on the foothills of the picturesque Rwenzori Mountain in Western Uganda. The co-op has close to 5000 farmers under organic certification, of which 85% are women. The cooperative’s efforts for gender equality were recognised by the SCAA Sustainability Award in 2015.
The farmers benefit from a unique ownership model, which also incentives them to strive for higher quality. The result of their hard, manual work translates into the coffee’s quality with clean, sweet and balanced cup profiles. A broad range of flavours is buzzing with distinct citric acidity.
