Cocoa Loco
Cocoa Loco is an artisan chocolatier based in West Sussex, handcrafting organic, Fairtrade certified chocolate from their restored Chocolate Barn since 2005. Every bar, truffle and hot chocolate kit is made in small batches, with care for both flavour and fairness. Their cocoa beans are sourced from small-scale growers in the Dominican Republic, with Fairtrade and Soil Association certification ensuring farmers are paid properly and farming practices protect the environment.
Choosing organic and Fairtrade ingredients is central to Cocoa Loco’s ethos. Organic cocoa is grown without synthetic chemicals, supporting biodiversity and healthier soils, while Fairtrade certification guarantees ethical treatment of farming communities and a standardised price for cocoa beans. By committing to these standards, Cocoa Loco ensures that indulgence doesn’t come at the expense of people or the planet.
Their dedication to making better choices at every step extends to packaging and product range, too. Their packaging is 100% plastic-free and either recyclable or home-compostable, so nothing lingers in landfill. The range spans vegan-friendly gift boxes and playful message slabs to rich truffles, buttons, drinking flakes and making kits, many of which feature in our festive hamper range. National awards, press attention and a loyal following speak to their belief that chocolate should bring joy without compromise.
Sarah Payne founded Cocoa Loco in 2005, driven by a passion for great chocolate and fairer trade for cocoa-growing communities. From the very beginning, she set out to prove that chocolate could be both playful and principled. Today, alongside a close-knit team of chocolatiers, she continues to oversee every detail from the Chocolate Barn in West Grinstead – keeping craft, ethics and a touch of whimsy at the heart of the brand.
