The most sustainable options use recycled cotton or recycled-bottle rPET, with organic cotton, natural canvas and jute as renewable alternatives to single-use plastic carriers. Look for the specific material and any recognised standard, such as GRS for recycled content or OEKO-TEX for tested-safe fabric, rather than a vague eco label.

Recycled cotton is made from reclaimed textile and production offcuts, which reduces waste and the water and energy needed to grow new fibre.
