Pangolin Gin

An extraordinary craft gin raising awareness for the most trafficked mammal in the world, the pangolin.

Recreate a classic South African sundowner at home with Pangolin Gin. This crisp craft gin offers a delectable way to help end the plight of an unusual and sadly persecuted animal – the pangolin.

Despite their low profile among many of us, these incredibly cool creatures are the world’s most trafficked mammal, illegally traded on Asian and African markets for their meat and scales. All eight species are currently threatened with extinction. Yikes.

Pangolin Gin wants to help give the pangolin a fighting chance against poachers, stop the demand and trade of them and get these lesser-known animals the public attention they deserve.

More than just inspiring the name, 10% of profits from every bottle go to pangolin protection initiatives run by legendary wildlife charity Born Free. These initiatives are dedicated to rescuing orphaned pangolins, caring for them and rehabilitating them in the wild.

Pangolins roam the South African savannah and there’s a taste of this landscape bottled up in Pangolin Gin. African botanicals are blended with those traditionally found in gin. You’ll get a hit of citrus peel, cardamom, baobab, rooibos, angelica root, orris root, honeybush and, of course, juniper in every sip.

While the flavours might come from further afield, Pangolin Gin is distilled here in the UK – at the Paper Mill Distillery at Staffordshire Brewery to be exact. This is a family-run, independent brewery with over a century of experience in craft drinks.

An expertly made gin that’s doing good for wildlife in need? We’ll drink to that.

Meet The Founder

It was on a trip to South Africa, where four species of pangolin are found, that Chris Swanborough learnt about the grave threat these animals face.

It was the first he’d heard of pangolins. But as a wildlife lover, he came away with an itch to support conservation efforts and raise awareness.

This combined with a passion for spirits led him to create Pangolin Gin. As well as having a positive impact at its heart, Chris was determined to make a drink that tastes exceptional. He pulled it off, crafting a gin that’s robust, distinctive and as well-rounded as the pangolin’s signature roll.
