Case study
Event merch that became a brand moment for Legl
Legl wanted giveaways that drew people to their stand and had a story behind them. So they swapped high volumes of standard freebies for a smaller range of premium merch: bamboo notebooks, branded artisan chocolate and power banks built to last.
The merch acted as a real conversation starter. People were drawn to the stand and curious to hear the story behind the products. We noticed higher footfall, more meaningful conversations and a greater number of follow-ups post-event compared to previous years.

Sustainability rating
Every product graded, and we show our working
Most suppliers put an eco label on part of their range without saying what earns it. We check every product against the same criteria, and the number it meets sets its grade. This marketplace lists the products that meet at least two.
- AA4 or 5 criteria metMeets almost everything we look for
- A3 criteria metStrong on materials and on how it was made
- B2 criteria metClears our bar on two independent counts
- C1 criterion metOne point in its favour, and no more. We only sell this if no viable alternatives are available.
- D0 criteria metNothing we can evidence. We don't sell this.

Sustainable branded merchandise: a buyer's guide
Why Invest in Sustainable Branded Merchandise
Make a statement with sustainable branded merchandise that aligns with your ethical values and supports social change. Partnering with our social enterprise suppliers not only boosts your CSR strategy but also provides high-quality, eco-friendly products. Think hand-blown glass coffee cups and upcycled laptop cases, items your clients and colleagues will use time and time again.
As demand for ethical, eco-friendly practices grows, traditional promotional products are losing appeal. Sustainable merchandise offers a meaningful alternative, reflecting your brand's commitment to environmental values and reinforcing a positive image.
Choose from a range of products made from recycled materials like bamboo and wheat straw, offering unique branding opportunities with items such as USBs from recycled newspaper and cork notebooks. Every purchase supports UK-based social enterprises with social and environmental missions.
What Makes Branded Merchandise Sustainable
āSustainableā on its own tells you very little, so we say what we mean by it. Every product in this range is checked against the same published criteria, and the number it meets sets its rating, from AA down to B on this page.
The rating is our own assessment, not a third-party certificate, and we publish how it is worked out so you can check it: how we rate sustainability. If you are comparing suppliers, our guide to the best UK sustainable merchandise providers sets out what to ask each one.
Materials You Will See in the Range
Recycled plastic. Often labelled rPET, it is made from used plastic such as drinks bottles. You will find it in branded drinkware, bags and pens.
Bamboo. A fast-growing grass, used here for pens, lids, desk organisers and tech accessories in office and desk and technology.
Wheat straw. The stalk left after the grain is harvested, blended into a product so that less new plastic is needed.
Organic cotton. Cotton grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers, used for tote bags and branded clothing.
Cork. The bark of the cork oak, harvested without felling the tree, and used for notebook covers and coasters.
Sustainable Merchandise for Onboarding
Welcome new employees with eco-friendly onboarding gifts that communicate your company's values. Eco-conscious products can set your brand apart, appealing to recruits who prioritise sustainability. Gifts like reusable water bottles that contribute to charity or sea-life centres create an impressive first impression.
Event Merchandise with a Positive Impact
Stand out at events with eco-friendly promotional products. Replace typical giveaways with bags, drinkware, and gadgets that reflect your brand's values. Custom items from social enterprises make a lasting impression, like a recycled aluminium pen supporting safe travel for schoolchildren.
Aligning event merchandise with your brand's mission, such as providing water-related gifts at a marine event, resonates with attendees and emphasises your commitment to shared objectives. Let us help you match your brand with meaningful, sustainable merchandise.
